John Weber was born and raised in the Sandhills of Nebraska. His father, Paul Weber trained and showed Cutting horses. His mother, Judy showed Western Pleasure horses. As a youth John showed Western Pleasure horses. Early on in his training career exhibited Rope horses. John saw a Reined Cow Horse show in Paso-Robles, bought a 2 year old filly by a son of Smart Chic Olena. John went on to showed her in the Reined Cow Horse as his first futurity horse and won money on her. A few years later he moved to North Texas and worked for several top Reining horse trainers (several years with NRHA Million Dollar Rider - Craig Johnson), later working for several ranches training and showing their horses. John even trained in another country. He trained and showed in Canada for a year. He compiled substantial NRHA earnings there and was one of the top riders in Ontario that year.
I learned a lot working for Craig Johnson. He taught me a lot about making the training simple and easy to understand for the horse. I will always be grateful for my time there and the friendship we built.

This is a picture of the late Paul Weber, my father. He played a large role for who I am and what I do. He was a good man and good with a horse. He was a horseman and cattleman, so it came natural to be a cutter. He taught me if I was using a spur or my hands there had better be a good reason or my horse would ignore me or be upset. That principle still has a whole lot to do with my training program and I suspect it always will.
